GENTLE MOVEMENT

A unique partnership with Norton Neuroscience Institute and Bellarmine University for adults with movement disorders

ABOUT

This Gentle Movement class combines beginner ballet techniques and social dances in a safe and creative environment for individuals with movement disorders. The 12-week series of classes can help participants with balance, flexibility, isolation and coordination while building strength, endurance and muscle memory.

The program is designed to promote community and is open to participants of all abilities; no prior dance experience is required to participate. Caregivers and families are welcome to join.

The Bellarmine Doctor of Physical Therapy Program is conducting research with this program that can demonstrate functional improvements, such as the ability to stand up from a chair, gait speed, balance, and mobility. This research will also include the impact on quality of life, as well as program satisfaction and value.

This program is FREE for participants!

*Eligible disorders: Parkinson’s disease, essential tremor, Huntington’s disease, dystonia, and ataxia
