Summer Programs

 

2015 Summer Dance Program 

June 15 – July 17 

The Louisville Ballet School offers workshops for children just beginning their journey as well as those who have a growing passion for dance. Classes are designed to develop coordination, musicality, and kinetic awareness, as well as instill a love for dance and the arts.

A variety of classes are available and all take place in our St. Matthews studios, located at 4121 Shelbyville Road. Summer Dance Programs fill up rapidly, so please sign up early beginning March 2, 2015 to reserve your child’s place in class. A payment in full or a minimum 50% tuition deposit is due upon registration, and the remainder will be automatically deducted via credit card on June 5, 2015.

Level 1 (ages 3-5)

Session I: June 15 – 19
Session II: July 6 – 10

Children (ages 3-5) will discover an exciting mix of creative dance, visual arts, and narrative storytelling through movement — all inspired by the wonderful world around us. Classes meet daily Monday – Friday. No previous dance experience or placement audition is required.

Level Placement Guidelines: Current LBS Students enrolled in Creative Movement I and II during the 2014-2015 school year. New students ages 3-5.

Level 2 (ages 6-8)

Session I: June 22 – 26
Session II: July 13 – 17

Children (ages 6-8) will explore a blend of creative dance and pre-ballet exercises along with visual art projects to discover the art of storytelling through dance while sharing in the traditions of the full-length classical ballets. Classes meet daily Monday – Friday. No previous dance experience or placement audition is required.

Level Placement Guidelines: Current LBS Students enrolled in Pre-Ballet and Beginning Ballet during the 2014-2015 school year. New students ages 6-8.

Levels 3 & 4 (ages 8-16)

Session I: June 15 – 26
Session II: July 6 – 17

Level 3 Placement Guidelines: Current LBS Students enrolled in Elementary I and II and Youth Open Ballet during the 2014-2015 school year. New students ages 8-13 upon consultation.

Level 4 Placement Guidelines: Current LBS Students enrolled in Elementary III and IV and Teen Open ballet during the 2014-2015 school year. New students ages 11-16 upon consultation.

Petite Session (ages 3-8)

June 17 – July 15, Wednesdays only for 5 weeks

Level Placement Guidelines: Current LBS Students should register for the class that corresponds with their current  2014-2015 class placement. New students should refer to the stated age guidelines based on the age they will be as of June 17.
